Hi, I am wondering if anyone here has experience of transfering from a public school to boarding school, but repeating 10th grade. It’s not for academic reasons at all and the student is on the young side (July birthday). My gut tells me it’s a good thing but want to hear from anyone who has had similar experiences, and the pros and cons based on their experience.

It’s very common. At some schools 30% of 10th graders are reclassed. But each BS can give guidance on your situation whether reclassing is appropriate
And don’t pooh-pooh academics. Unless the lps is the top in the state, the academics at the BS are likely far advanced.

DIdn’t mean to say BS academics is not good compared to the current PS. It’s just different tracks. And yes, the current PS is an SHS.
