1)do transfer students have to take placement exams?
2)do we get out fin aid/loans before fees are due?

i think financial aid is disbursed when you enroll in the minimum amount of units required. at uci, that number is 6 units… so after i enroll in 6 units, financial aid is applied directly to my student fees. i don’t know for sure how it is at other schools, but i imagine that most uc financial aid systems are similar.

oh and i forgot to mention… fees are typically due AFTER you enroll in your classes… unless you enroll late for some reason.

what about loans?will i be able to take student loans for my tuition in full?ex. say my EFC is 10,000 my school is 20,000 and my fin. aid is 6,000-- will i be able to take out more than 4,000 in student loans or do i have to get some kind of bank loan?

you probably want to call the financial aid office and ask… but here’s what i think…

if they offer you $6000 in aid, then that’s probably all you’re going to get through the school. that $6000 is typically a combination of grants and loans. what they might offer is a parent loan if you’re still a dependent.

if you have weird circumstances, though, i’m sure the office will listen to you.
