hi, I recently just submitted my transfer application to Maryland University, specifically Clark school of Eng. There is one question on the application which asks me whether English is my first or native language. I naturally put yes without giving much thought. However, I am a permanent resident of United States. I was born in China. so technically my first language is not English. The reason why I naturally put English as my first language is because English is the only language that i been exposed to since middle school, even my parents talk to me in English at home. I only realized this mistake after I talked to one of my friend who is also applying for UMD. Will this mistake be costly? P.S the TOEFL exam shouldn’t be an issue for me because I am getting my associate degree in may which will waive the TOFEL exam.

Shouldn’t worry about it, considering you already have your associates.
