Transferring 8th and 9th Grade Language Credit To CC

<p>Hey everyone,</p>

<p>I’m going to be a first year student at De Anza Community College starting this Fall Quarter.</p>

<p>Now, I plan to transfer to a UC.</p>

<p>Before deciding to go to Community College, I applied and was accepted to UC Merced. As the UCs require 2 language credits, I gave them my transcripts from 8th and 9th grade (took French both years), and they clearly stated anything from 8th grade and on WOULD be counted.</p>

<p>Now, I went with the same transcripts to De Anza today to put these on file (so I won’t have to take a language course), but I was told they will only take High School language credits.</p>

<p>Any idea as to what I should do?</p>

<p>Given that you say it’s clearly stated that they’re supposed to take the foreign language classes, bring that up with a transfer counselor or a UC representative.</p>

<p>Would you recommend that I go in and talk to a transfer counselor at my community college, or call admissions of the UC’s?</p>
