Hello, My daughter currently attends college in a very small town in a small tech school. It is a very good school, and very affordable. She is getting very good grades. She likes the classes. However, the social scene is so slow there, the school has few students, many are engineers and not into socializing. She is considering transferring. Anyone have ideas on the best ways to find a good fit? I don’t want her to move just to go onto another year of being a bit lonely.
I would focus on finding a school that has a large transfer population along with a large student body. Moving to a big school that does not accept large amounts of transfers will only lead to further social isolation as most friend groups would already be made.
Your best bet is to look at state schools. Unfortunately, some state schools are more open to private transfers than others (UCs prefer community college transfers, for example). Beyond that, you need to look for schools that have majors she is interested in.
