Hi, Currently a senior in high school who didn’t have the best test scores or GPA during their high school year. Luckily, I got Into a fairly decent school with really great financial aid. High school was the worst experience I have ever gone through and my academics reflected poorly. I want to transfer after my first year at this college with a 3.7 above GPA(take only my core classes), 90th percentile test scores, and good it’s. The problem is I don’t hear a lot about people transferring from private universities; so can anyone give me advice,
Plenty of people transfer from public or private colleges to other private or public colleges.
Not sure what your question is, but you’re putting the cart before the horse. Work hard and do well. You may want to stay at your college. Most students grow where they are planted. If transferring is in the cards, you will need great prof recommendations to get into an elite private college. Make an effort to be involved in campus life and get to know professors and fellow students.
Transferring into elite schools is generally more difficult because the acceptance rate is even lower and they still want to see all the same qualifications. Elite schools have high retention rates and so there are few spaces for new students. Basically, it’s a ramped up version of the original application process. And you’ll need a compelling reason why you want to transfer. Prestige hunting will not help you, that’s for sure.
