Transferring from CC to Uni: Should I take SAT or ACT

As title states, as a non-traditional student, would there be a benefit of taking the SATS or ACT given that I know I can get some VERY high scores? I’ve asked many and they say that those tests don’t matter to non-traditional students–does that mean that they are useless and carry no merit at all? Just confused, if they help I’d like to take it because I slacked off in my mid CC career and my GPA went from a perfect to a mid to low 3.4

UMD College Park is the goal UNI by the way…

p.s. I’ve gotten a 735 on a practice LSAT before. I take them for fun…

First, I doubt they would even accept an SAT/ACT taken while you are in college. Those tests were developed for HS students. And your friends are right that as a non-traditional student they hold little value anyway. You’ll also find in the UMCP Common Data Set that scores are required of some. <a href=“This Page Has Moved | IRPA”>https://www.irpa.umd.edu/Publications/pub_cds.html</a> That usually means first year CC students right out of HS. For truly accurate info contact the UMCP admissions office.

Office of Undergraduate Admissions | Transfer Applicants; indicates that Maryland only wants SAT or ACT scores and high school transcript if you have completed fewer than 30 semester or 45 quarter units of college work.

Well what about my grades in CC? Will i get an admit if my GPA is now 3.265 and will be about 3.4 after this sem.I had all A’s and one B for my first 3 semesters, then got an F and 3 Cs because of some personal issues at my home) so I’ve got a transcrritpt that looks like this: A,A,A,A,A,A,B,A,A,F,C,B,A,C,C and now I am getting all A’s again until completion. And I had been in PTK, deans list x4, and Honors designation? Tutor to challenged kids, etc… I have 47/60 credits til Graduating. If my grades look like this: A,A,A,A,A,A,B,A,C,F,A,B,C,C, A, A, A, A, A

I also have many more ?s about transferring to UMDCP, where should I ask online? Here? This forum? Also, Will I be able to get ino a dorm as a transfer student Heard it’s very limited for us…?

Also I am at wor-wic which isnt in the MTAP(auto acccept at UMD with 3.0 GPA min) after 60 credits completed.

Will my All A’s besides that one period in the middle with Cs and an F look better because it’s obvious I’m an A student when I am not subject to personal problems at home (i.e. abuse, etc)

Why didn’t you withdraw instead of failing?

I had a low b until last 3 weeks then some bad stuff happened at home and I missed A Big assignment and a few others…Didn’t know I could withdraw at the point So I thought I could get at least a C on Exam but couldnt even get a D with that included …Stupid looking back

People speculating about the utility of taking ACT/SAT here is worthless. Contact your target college – ask THEM.

They aren’t going to mislead you it’s certain they’ve been asked the same question before.

Well you could always take them on the off chance it might be useful, but since you’re a college student, your admission will likely be based off your college grades.
What major would you be applying to?
UMDCP with a 3.4 is certainly doable but if you’re aiming for engineering or (selective) business, it’s different from aiming at a nonselective major…
