Transferring from Christian college

I am currently completing my sophomore year of college. I am thinking about transferring colleges next year for various reasons which I’d rather not get into right now. I will have my associates degree. My question is really two parts I guess.

  1. If I transfer, can I go straight into junior year since I already have my associates degree, and 2. Will my being from a Christian college effect whether or not they’ll accept my associate’s degree. My college I am currently attending is accredited.
    Thanks

Having an associate degree doesn’t really matter. What matters is whether you took transferable courses. Not all will transfer.
The fact your college is accredited is very important.
What state do you live in? What’s your GPA? What’s your budget?
You have to hurry, many transfer applications have closed already. You should transfer as a sophomore (some universities won’t consider you otherwise or will consider you but won’t accept your upper level credits…) so your window is pretty short.

I agree with everything that @MYOS1634 said.

Also, no matter what credits transfer, you will retain your associate’s degree.

What sort of school are you looking to transfer into? What part of the country interests you?

FYI – Southwestern University in Texas is fairly transfer friendly.

There are others.

Transfer credit would be based on evaluation by the receiving college. It seems unlikely that course work from a religious college would be seen as any worse than course work in the same subjects from other colleges, except that devotional religious courses may not be accepted by a non-religious college or a religious college of a different religion.

But note that any transfer credit between any colleges may have issues with subject credit and prerequisite placement due to the courses not being exactly aligned in terms of material coverage.

@roheryn : Consider Berry College in Rome, Georgia. It is a Christian-lite environment. Beautiful campus. Largest college campus in the US, possibly in the world. Expect to receive at least a partial scholarship if accepted. It is a great school with a wonderful community. Facilities are excellent.

Make sure to get copies of all the sylabbi of your courses so the new college can look at them for transfer purposes.
