Hi, this is my first time on this site and I need help with figuring out what my options are in regards to transferring from community college. Firstly, I graduated high school in 2010 with a 3.1 GPA in honors and AP courses. On the SATs I received a 660 in math, a 640 in reading, and a 610 in writing. I co-founded a Non Governmental Organization called Kids for Iraq and I lived in Syria during the summer of 2008 funding TOEFL exams so Iraqi refugees can continue their education. High school was hard for me - I had a tumultuous family life and lived with 13 different families. When I finally graduated, I went to UMASS Amherst although I was accepted Early Decision to Skidmore College. Going to Umass was the biggest mistake of my life. I fell into a deep depression and received the lowest marks and ended up withdrawing in the middle of my second semester. I received a D+, B, IF, IF (the IF represent Incompletes and the F represents Failure, because I never made them up - I withdrew before I could). Anyways, now I am feeling much better since I am no longer at a huge partying school. I am currently taking courses at Middlesex Community College and I am looking at having a 3.6/3.7 this semester. Next semester I expect a 4.0. I am interested in attending Babson College, Boston University, Skidmore College (even though I turned them down for financial reasons), NYU, Bentley College, and University of Puget Sound. I know that my first year at Umass poorly reflects my abilities, but do I still have a chance of getting into any of these schools for the fall of 2012?

You are going to have to justify the low grades you got at UMass, particularly the IFs. If you can effectively show that your good HS grades and good CC grades are really typical of your performance, and that the UMass grades are atypical, then you do have a chance. However, I would look at some more safer schools just in case.

How the hell do i post a question on this website?
