Transferring From Emory to UPenn, How to get rec letters?

My first semester GPA is 3.13, but I can probably fix that by getting a 4.0 next semester.

But my problem is that since I need 2 recommendation letters, I don’t know which professors I should ask to write me recommendation letters. For Physics and Calc 2 I only got a C+ and B- respectively, and also I don’t know the professors that well.

I got B+ and A in Poetry and Econ respectively, and I know my Poetry teacher quite well, but I am reluctant to ask her to write me a rec letter, because I was afraid that getting a letter from a non-core subject professor may not look as good on the application. I don’t know my econ professor that well, but since I got an A in that class, would it be better to ask that professor to write it?

So based on my situation, which teachers would you pick to write the recommendation letters?

Thanks for your help!

Why don’t you think poetry (English) is a core subject?

I’d go with the best LORs which seem like they’d be the Poetry & Econ profs.

It will be very hard to transfer up if you got a 3.13 your first semester. May want to wait until next year.

Penn won’t see second semester grades as incorporated into your cumulative. Wait a year.

Guess I’d temporarily given up on trying to explain that to 1 semester wonders, thanks to Avid and it for taking up my slack ;).
