I’m currently finishing up my associates at a junior college about an hour south of Chicago. I’m getting my associates in Arts and hoping to have a major set and ready to go in the next few days before the start of one of my last semesters. I still don’t have my major or career pinpointed right now, and am so thankful I stayed at a junior college because I’ve flopped my fair share of times. However, I finally ended back where I started, wanting to do something I love, not for the money. I will still be picking a major that leads me to good $ and an enjoyable job, however.

I have my list of colleges to transfer to limited to some around the Midwest, and within 10 hours driving from my hometown.

-Miami University-Oxford
-Indiana State University
-University of Cincinnati
-University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
-Middle Tennessee State University
-University of Louisville
-University of Kentucky
-University of Arkansas-Fayetteville

Like I said, I don’t have a major down yet, so I’m just looking for any general information anyone can give me. I’ve researched them as best as possible through google, but I was hoping I could find more here. I’m from a small town-turned big town. I’m either looking for a city area or an area where I could rent a farmhouse of some sorts and live “away from the world” persay. I have a cousin who went to college in Indiana and was able to rent out a farmhouse, and to say the least, I truly enjoy my peace and quiet. I am planning to bring about two dogs with me, and my girlfriend. I’m fine with a big city, grew up around the Chicago-area, love the city, but am looking for one or the other at this time.

I know Murfreesboro, the MTSU city, is one of the fastest growing in the nation with a big economy and is only about an hour outside of Nashville. I’m really open as to which of these schools I’d like to go to. I’ve already requested information and brochures from all of them, and I’m sure when I have my major down that will help as well.

My girlfriend lives in Brazil, and will most likely join me when I transfer and she hopes to start her own salon/beauty parlor deal. More than likely after I graduate, so we can settle down. The past majors I’ve looked into were finance, business, aviation (commercial air pilot), and law. I’ve also had interest in international business/relations. I’m more of a “homebody” and don’t drink or party all that much. I more prefer interesting, different adventures and fun things to do. Throw me some info on any place that has a little more fun attached to it then the general college campus of bars and parties. Since I’ll be a junior, and have worked my way through junior college, I’m more focused and mature than I was at the onset of my college career.

If anyone can provide any input, advice, or information it would be greatly appreciated. My GPA will probably end up around a 2.5-2.7 once I finish. I’ve suffered from anxiety, depression, OCD, and was severely bullied throughout grade school. My grades have sadly suffered up until this past year, where I seem to have found my stride in improving. I plan to explain this in any/all essays.

Please, any negative or hurtful comments, please keep to yourself. I hope to only receive helpful comments and turn this into a post that helps me with the direction of my life and college. As I said before, ANY information on the colleges I mentioned, cities/towns around them, off-campus housing, social life, academics, campus itself, and ANYTHING else, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank any/all of you so much,
Jworld
