Transferring from multiple schools?

I went to a 4 year for one semester but dropped out because I got all Fs and a B.

2 years later I went to a CC and completed all my prereqs and igetc there.
On my UC transfer application do I need to add my 4 year grades?

Yes, you do.

If I got all As and 1 B at the CC
do you think my poor performance at the 4 year will seriously affect my chance of admission

whats your major? if its econ you’re pretty much screwed for berkeley and la unless you retake the Fs.

CS major
My courses at the 4 year were philosophy, english, history, and economics

From my experience, when I applied, there wasn’t a spot to add courses from the private school, they only allowed you to add courses from transferable courses from community college, because i think they evaluate the private stuff seperately since there might not be a direct equivalent at whatever uc you trasnfer to.

for me i left my private school with a 2.6-2.8, but i doubt any of the courses i take got me or prevented me from getting into ucla and other uc’s, since i ended up doing igetc and pre reqs at community college.

^ I love you ^

^^^ thats not true i added courses from the 4 year i attended. You just have to enter the courses manually.

I seriously doubt your previous performance will affect your chances at a UC. If anything, it may help you since it shows you matured. There are real people reading these applications, and they’re not going to reject you because you screwed up a few years ago.
I did something similar to you, but I did poorly at a community college. I took a few years off, then returned and did well. I was eligible for academic renewal because I had taken so much time off, so I had the grades removed from contributing to my GPA, even though they’re still on my transcripts. I didn’t retake any of the courses. I still got in to UCLA and Berkeley. Granted, the major I applied with is very un-impacted, so I can’t say for sure how they’d react if you applied for a severely impacted major. Still, I don’t think they’d hold it against you. Like I said, these are real people, not robots. If I were you, I wouldn’t bother retaking those classes unless they’re required for the major you’re pursuing. On the same token, I wouldn’t use the class you recieved a B in to fulfill a class requirement. You should just forget you ever went to that school EXCEPT when you create your application. DO NOT leave it off. That will get you rejected/rescinded for sure if they find out. Just grit your teeth and put it on there. I really don’t think it will hurt you, since you’ve done so well recently.

You can ask for ‘academic forgiveness’. They usually want 5 years between colleges to grant it but you never know. You absolutely must report all grades from all colleges.

i wasn’t aware of the adding manually, however i will say that i ended up contacting all the ucs and told them that i didn’t inlcude the coursework because i didn’t find the place to.
on the application they specifically say to list Transferable coursework. unless there is an articulation agreement, one can’t know what is considered “transferable” coursework. and if one is going to guess, it, defeats the purpose of uc’s asking to list the transferable stuff in the first place, one might as well include all the remedial classes some may have gone through including math or what have you=which doesn’t affect the decision since its not transferable stuff…

I went to a four year private Catholic school last year, and yes there is space for you to add that information on your UC Application.

They want you to put all the colleges you attended. When I was in HS, I attended my nearby CCC and I ALSO put that in.

You know that they are “transferable” by looking at your CCC course catalog. It should say there CSU/UC Transferrable. There’s pretty much no excuse.

The first CC I attended I got two F’s in my first semester. I enrolled at a JC closer to home the following semester and my grades drastically improved. In my UC app I addressed the issue and I felt it actually increased my chances.

I was admitted to Berkeley and Santa Barbara, but rejected from UCLA (probably because I did not complete three prereqs).

I used to go to a 4 year university as well and you need to enter ALL of your grades from the four year and the community college… or else if they find out that u didnt enter the grades from your 4 year, you will be blacklisted and banned from applying to UCs again…
