transferring from one ivy to another

for privacy reasons, i don’t want to reveal my current school. It’s one of HYP and I want to transfer to D, another HYP school or Amherst/Carleton college. During regular admissions, I was offered a place into Amherst and Dartmouth, but chose my glory school instead. Does that help/detriment my chances? My high school record was pretty solid and my college record so far is pretty decent too. But I’m not enjoying my experience at all.
Also, I’m on a lot of financial aid and ethnically Asian, just to give a complete picture.
Thanks.

If you’re attending HYP now, and are doing well in your classes this semester, then you are academically a competitive candidate for those schools; except of course for P which doesn’t accept transfers. The difficulties are the lower acceptance rates for transfers and that you need to write a strong essay on why you want to transfer, which can be more difficult when already attending a strong school.

I don’t think having been accepted to a school and turning it down will make a difference, schools know that fr applicants often have to make difficult decisions and it’s hard to tell if a school is going to work with just a short, if any, visit. My D1 chose a top public with a full scholarship over one of those schools and was also accepted as a soph transfer.

At least from my experience with direct comparisons of HYP to DAC, the former three give much more generous FA (this is from 3 yrs of FA comparisons with a very uncomplicated financial situation).
