Transferring from parochial to magnet?

Ever since I attended SPLASH at MIT when I was younger, MIT has been my dream school. That was a few years ago, and I’m currently in a conundrum. I’ve been accepted to attend a selective magnet school (top MCAS scores in Massachusetts, various other honors). However, I’m currently a sophomore at a larger parochial school in New Hampshire, and I’m currently sitting at #1 rank. The magnet school doesn’t rank; however, seniors spend a year at a local tech college, while taking the freshman course load. Speaking from the perspective of an MIT admissions officer, would it be better for one to attend a magnet school unranked with no APs, or to attend a parochial school as valedictorian with 9 APs?

i mean…it’s often six one way, half a dozen the other. will you be able to challenge yourself more at the magnet? will you be happier there academically and socially? if so, i’d say that’s always the right step to take.

And, to expand on what Chris said - you’re fine. Really. People here come from magnet schools, people here come from parochial schools (I came from a non-parochial Catholic school). Go where you will get the type of education you want and the type of atmosphere you want.

Is the magnet school you’re talking about affiliated with WPI?

Two of my best friends at MIT (twins) went to high school there.

just passing thru and offering a thought.

Having a few credits when you enter college, often can allow you to do a bit more while in college. But not at the expense of having fun and enjoying it.
