Transferring from Pitt?

I’m a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh, potentially looking to transfer to UCLA as a junior. I’m a bit confused about some of the requirements, though…For example, Pitt only requires one composition course, but it looks like on this page–http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/requirements/minimum-requirements/index.html--</a>, UCLA requires two comp courses. So, that means I would have to take an extra comp course while still at my old school, right? Also, I’m a psych major, and it looks like there are specific pre-reqs I need to fulfill to transfer as a psych major. What happens if I don’t cover all the pre-reqs?

I have absolutely no idea about the transfer process. Any information at all would be great, as I have no idea where to start.

Yes.

Then you likely get automatically denied.

UCLA says :
“Q: Does the campus accept lower-division transfer applicants (fewer than 60 units)?
A: No”

Unless you want to transfer Jr. yr I would look into other schools like USC.

^ oh, my bad. I thought she wanted to leave asap cuz of her other thread about hating the cold and snow.

If you (OP) can complete the pre-reqs on that course list along with the psych pre-reqs (intro to stats, intro to philosophy, calculous or computer science, intro to biology, intro to psychology and intro to chem) you will have a less than 10% of getting accepted into UCLA as a jr level transfer. UCs take about 90% of their transfers from CA community colleges.

I would still look into USC if I were you.

To supplement bomerr’s response, here are the admission statistics for UCLA last year: https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof13.htm</a>.</p>

Less than a 6% admit rate for OOS transfers. This is due to the difficulty that private school/OOS students face in matching courses as well as the purpose of the UC transfer system being to accommodate California CC students.
