Transferring from SUNY to Cornell

Hi, I am a junior in highschool. My dream school has always been going to Cornell, so my GPA and SAT, ACT scores are above average - but since Cornell is a very selective school, I am planning my alternative ways to get in there.

My dream is to attend College of Human Ecology, Fashion design management major, which is one of SUNY colleges. I was wondering if it would be a smarter decision to attend a SUNY college (University at Buffalo / SUNY Bing / etc.) for a year and apply to Cornell, or attend other private universities such as UC Berkeley, NYU, BU, etc. and then try to transfer.

If I fail transferring to Cornell, I should definitely go to other private universities and stay there, yet if there is a high possibility of successful transfer to Cornell from SUNY schools, I would give a shot and attend there for a year.

Do you guys have any opinions/ advice? Thanks so much

Hum Ec is a contract college under the auspices of the land grant colleges of the university. If your scores make you competitive, apply directly to Cornell. The highest acceptance rate for Cornell is applying early decision.

It’s not a SUNY college. It is a state-supported college under contract with the state of NY.

In answer to your question, you’d have the best chance if you attended a community college that has an articulation agreement with Cornell. Here’s the info:

Outside of those community colleges, I don’t think it would make a difference transferring from SUNY Buffalo or from Boston University.

If your interest is “Fashion Design Management”, suggest look up schools that provide that major, filter them down based on fit, then apply to some of those. And attend one of them.
