So here’s my situation: Last year I attended McGill University in Canada and played baseball there. I decided I wanted to go to a junior college and play baseball there so I can play at a D1 school in the states while it being a good academic institution. My new coach told me my GPA will restart at my juco but the college’s will see my transcript at McGill which was below a 2.0. I wasn’t that applied at McGill and didn’t really care but i know i have to do well now. I know I will get a 4.0 at a junior college because i have to. What I’m worried about is that I won’t be able to go to a good school because of my bad grades at McGIl. Obviously i got in, I had a 3.3 and a 28 ACT score so I know i will be fine at the junior college to get good grades because I am focused. But what I am wondering is will the new 4 year university look at my McGill grades more or my junior college grades more? I want to go to a school like GW, Lehigh, Bucknell, UMich. Anything will help, thank you!
We can’t really help you with that. You’re wanting to be recruited by a D1 baseball team. You need to find out what THEY would want. Maybe your JUCO coach knows if he’s had other players transfer into better D1 programs.
If your baseball skills are excellent then you’ll find a landing place out of a JC. But you’ll need to get your butt in gear.
If a recruited athlete you have a chance at those schools, otherwise they would be out of reach.
Why would you want to leave McGill? That’s pretty much my dream school.
Your ACT is way better than some recruited athletes at the schools u mentioned. But they will need proof that you are capable of getting good grades in college. So, if you do really well af community college, & are in fact an excellent athlete, i would think they would overlook your bad McGill grades.
@CollegeDayDreamer The OP has a GPA below 2.0. His departure from McGill may not be voluntary.
