I am going into senior year, and I am having trouble deciding whether to transfer to private school and finish,or should I finish it at my current high school.
If I transfer, I will be taking:
Pre-calculus/Trigonometry
Theology 4
Comparative Government and Economic Systems
ELA 4
Spanish 2
Environmental Science
If I stay at my current high school,I will have the following full year:
English 12
Chorus
The following courses I will only have one semester:
Health/PE 2
Psychology
Accounting 1
Anatomy & Physiology
College Algebra
Spanish 2
I have been involved in Badminton club since this past school year. I would be interested in joining clubs like DECA and FBLA,and our annual Homecoming skit performance, along with badminton for another year. My current school has so many opportunities in regards to courses and clubs that I love being part of the family. On the other hand, there are some things like Stage Crew and play performances, along with some social aspects, that attract me to transfer. I think despite a few bad experiences, most of the memories I have from High School are positive, and I wanna keep it that way for my last year.
My GPA is around a 3.35 and I got a 780 on this past May’s SAT,I am hoping to get into Penn State Brandywine for the first two years.
Transferring won’t make you are stronger option since you’re in senior year. Colleges really only look at first three years and a semester if you’re going regular decision
Can you take a stronger course load senior year at your current school?
IE., take full year English, College algebra/precalculus, chorus, Spanish 2, with a semester long class in economics, government, and health/PE + taking your strongest subject at honors level?
Your SAT score is concerning though. Did you retake in August? Are you studying for an October retake?
Will you commute to Brandywine?
Which colleges are you thinking of?
(I think the following would be appropriate: psu Brandywine, psu Greater Allegheny with dorm, Lycoming as a reach, York as a reach, Mansfield as another match, perhaps Kutztown or Millersville.)
What’s your parents’ budget?
Do you know your EFC? Have you run the NPC on all the colleges you’re thinking of and
shown the results to your mother?
@MYOS1634 Actually something I didn’t know when I posted this thread was that my GPA is reported out of 100 scale. My GPA is an 87.37 with a 860 on the October SAT. I hope to go to PSU Brandywine and commute. I don’t know that information off of the top of my head, but my father did make mention that I would probably get the Pell Grant, knocking it down to around 8 or 9 thousand.
