Transferring to a Florida college..HELP

I am a current freshman at a community college in NY…I finished my first semester with a 3.75 but am aiming for a 4.0 next semester. I am planning on getting my AA at community college so I don’t have to worry about which classes will transfer over and what not. I really want to transfer to a school in Florida for the Fall of 2016 my junior year. I want a school where I can rush a sorority, have a social life and overall make an easy transition. I’m so nervous I will just awkwardly show up to school and not make any friends. I am planning on majoring in Speech Pathology when I transfer but my AA is just liberal arts. What schools do you think are the best in Florida?

I’m pretty sure most schools have housing designed specifically for transfer students in order for them to have a smooth transition. You will make friends don’t worry! As to which schools in Florida are the best fit…not sure. But the key is to find a school that has an out-of-state population on the higher side because it means less people commute/go home on the weekends.

Why do you want to transfer to a school in Florida? You can rush a sorority and have a social life at a variety of SUNYs at much lower cost to you. One of my close friends went to SUNY New Paltz and majored in communication disorders; after a master’s in SLP she’s now working as a speech-language pathologist for the Department of Education.

I want to go to a school in Florida because I was born and raised in New York my whole life and want a change.

@‌angggelala - If your family can afford to send you to college in FL that is perfectly fine. But please do investigate the cost of studying OOS. It might not be worth it. You could finish your speech path degree in NYS, then look for a job in FL later.

College Navigator finds 7 universities in FL that offer Speech Pathology. http://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/?s=FL&p=51.0204+51.0203&ic=1 Take a look at each website, and see what you think.
