I’m just wondering if my chances of transferring to a UC is higher with a physics physics major or a history major? I have been a chemistry major for the last two years of community college and I’ve had a few Cs, which made my GPA become 2.93. I’m thinking of switching to a history major, something that I am also very interested in, if it means my chances of getting into the school would be higher. Does it matter?
I’m not sure anyone could definitively say if your chances would be higher in either situation. Pick your major based on what you’re interested in, and try to raise your GPA as much as possible before you apply.
In the other thread you posted that was basically this exact same question it was suggested that you look into TAG programs and their policies. I think that would be a good idea.
Not sure you have an aptitude for chemistry. :-?
Your best bet is to look over the UCLA profile of admitted students. (Alas, it is the only UC to provide this.) Simply lower the average GPA for each major as you work your way down the UC tier system – Riverside and Merced would have the lowest.
Find a major that may be to your liking with a lower average GPA.

The minimum for TAG is usually around 3.2 GPA, depending on major. Try and reach a TAG minimum GPA so you can TAG the campus and have some assurances. That will also help you get into a major with a higher GPA average.
→ Also, any C- or lower course can be repeated.
