Transferring to another college?

Is it easier to get accepted to another college when you transfer from a different college, instead of applying as a freshman from high school?

Depends on the college. For the Ivies, the answer is usually no. Very big NO! However, certain schools at Cornell offer almost a 50% transfer acceptance (if College Confidential is to be believed . . .), and USC (Los Angeles) seems to actively encourage transfer apps where, for its Freshman acceptance rate (18%), it is hugely difficult to get in.

Cal also has acceptance around 30% for transfers as opposed to below 20 for freshman

What about just cal state schools, such as San Diego state university?
