Transferring to Business School in Texas Public University

Hi Experts- My son is freshman in Texas A&M Kingsville. He finished his fall 2018 semester with 14 credits and 4.0 GPA. He is currently enrolled in 17 more credits in Spring 2019 semester. His high school SAT and rank were quite low. Therefore he took College Algebra in first semester and now taking Business Calculus(Math 1325) in spring semester. He did not like city of Kingsville and looking to transfer somewhere else. When I started looking where he could transfer, I found there were no too many options because of following.

  1. UT Austin requires Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and both courses of Economics completed before transfer application.
  2. UT Dallas requires 42 credits completed.
  3. Texas A&M needs all required credits/courses posted by March 1 before application. Assuming, he will maintain good GPA in second semester too, what options does he have? I guess it leaves him with UTSA, Texas Tech, UT Houston and Texas State. Am I missing something or any other good schools in Texas? Are there bordering states that have good schools where he could try? Please advise.

@shambhal What major? He needs to find and follow a transfer course sheet of the major he is looking at from every college he is considering. Here is the link for the transfer course sheets from A&M. Have him find his major and it will list the criteria he needs to apply to transfer. http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/majors

Texas has some of our nation’s high ranked and well regarded private schools, if you can afford or are eligible for good financial aid then you can try one of those. Obviously Rice is not an option but you can browse websites of SMU, Baylor, TCU for transfer requirements.
