Transferring to College

<p>Hi,</p>

<p>I am a student from University of Toronto in Canada, applying into a pre-med program.
My previous academic sessions, disrupts my entry to colleges. I had a low cumulative GPA of 1.18/4.0 and was academically suspend during the fall session of 2011. As of now I am enrolled in 3 courses, which are minimum for a full-time student on the campus, and have been academically successful, achieving a sessional GPA of 3.8/4.0, that I can assure to uphold till the end of the term. I have also scored, Reading;430, Math;500, Writing;410, on my SAT.
My main concern are my previous grades. I would like to show my final transcript along with assessments from the professors, which can of course, enhance my application at the end of the term (May). If also an interview with an alumni or admission committee will be great.
I had contacted some of the colleges regarding my academic profile. They suggested I should continue to apply to their colleges. But, I am not sure if they think I have a chance to be accepted, or just want the application fee. </p>

<p>Here are the following admission offices, and their responses:
-University of Chicago; Last academic progress will be taken into consideration, and they are trying secure an open spot for an interview with an alumni.
-University of Miami; Apply after I have finished my current term, and call them to see, if they are currently still accepting applicants.
-Boston University; Submit the my final sessional transcript, ASAP.
-University of New Orleans; Score 450 on Reading, and last academic progress will be taken into consideration.</p>

<p>I would like to hear the forum committee’s opinions regarding the chances of acceptance to the current following colleges, and suggestions to other colleges.</p>

<p>I would also like to mention about secondary education. The courses I have taken are specifically to get into Universities. During my senior year, I had taken English, Advance Function, Calculus, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Sociology with and overall average of 70%+ from 6 of the highest achieved grades in final year.</p>

<p>No one has answered because you haven’t provided enough information. Will you need financial aid? Why did you choose UT in the first place, and why isn’t it working for you? What qualities are you looking for in your next college? Why did you choose a list of schools that expect SATs much higher than yours?</p>

<p>If you want to transfer for fall 2012, many deadlines have already passed. You might think about spending another year at UT to bring your GPA up; you will have better transfer options if you do.</p>

<p>No, I do not need any financial aid. I’m attending the colleges in the U.S due to their pre-med program, and rigorous academics. I do not want to go in-depth into reasoning for transferring because I have already justified in the applicants. I have applied to those colleges because they are taking more into consideration of how I am progressing in my academics; I feel they are not quite as discriminant against my previous sessions, as I have talked to them over the phone.
Regarding my SAT, I have mentioned my concerns to the admissions office, and they told me they tend not to be quite strict for international students, whereas for domestic students. Other than my previous college GPA, and high school grades, the best way to show my hehavior towards academic is highly dependent on my current sessional GPA. My current worry is that they might overlook my final sessional transcript, or make a decision before I can submit it.
I clearly am aware of the situation I am in, and my chances of getting acceptance are quite low without final sessional GPA. I guess the best way to reason with them will be the presenting the sincere, thoughtful, and elegant essay to why I want to attend their college. Like I have previously mentioned, I had told them the scores regarding the past sessions, and how I am academically performing now. They have told me, they evaluate applicants formal essays, and academic documents holistically and are willing to take into every considerations.
I am trying to stay as optimistic as possible that I might have a chance to get accept to one of the colleges. I have referred all my concerns to admissions committee, and contacted them many times regarding my chances. They recommended I show apply since my current transition in GPA, except for University of Miami. They seem to be truthful, maybe if I am lucky I can be waitlisted to those colleges, and just hope someone students do not enroll.</p>
