Transferring to MIT, If the planets align

I am well aware of the depressingly low rate of acceptance MIT has for transfers (the single digits from what I understand?) but it’s not zero, so I’m going to give it a shot.

I am currently a rising sophomore.

my college GPA is 3.8

my SAT from high school was a 2200 (Am I expected/allowed to retake it in order to transfer?)

As a first year, I was an intern at a company called Thales for about six months.

I am also interning at Google this summer.

I taught myself how to program in high school and before any formal instruction, I designed a programming language and created a simple compiler for that programming language, earning me a spot as a Siemens Regional Finalist in the MIT region.

While in high school, I also began to take up making Android applications as a hobby. I have published several applications onto the market. In college, as part of the computer science student council, I have given workshops on making Android apps.

I find programming fun. Rather than play a game, I would program it. Whenever I get an idea for a programming challenge, I tackle it right away.

However, I haven’t done any research yet (I want to try to in my sophomore year though)

You sound like a really passionate guy about Computers… I mean apply of course… but we cannot give you a real % …#s… But only encouragement. I would definitely apply (: and keep trying… Even after o.o Since I love MIT that much

3.8GPA is really nice but I’m not sure what University standards it is… If this was an Ivy league school like U penn… You definitely have a shot… The few transfer applicants I think are usually:

  1. Did not get into MIT but love the school and kept trying
-Then worked even harder in College to show them that they can handle the material
  2. Possibly from Yale,Princeton and Harvard that decided to major in Engineering?
  3. Got accepted to MIT but did not go because of “some” reasons but then reapplied

I spoke to a couple of my friends who didn’t get in and they said there not applying anymore because they think simply they are not “good” enough for MIT material. But I don’t think that is not true…You should never give up…If you don’t get in Sophomore year… Definitely try again Junior year

Then again I can’t say much because I plan to apply there myself x( cross fingers…
