Transferring to NYU Spring 2012

I’m currently about to begin my sophomore year at Northeastern University this fall, and I’m considering transferring to NYU next spring

Major: International Affairs and Economics
University GPA: 3.4 (unimpressive I know, expected to rise to around 3.5 by the end of summer semester)
High school GPA: 3.8 (3 APs)
SAT: 1860
SAT II Math: 630

What are my chances of getting in? I’m assuming they’re slim, but I do want to try…

Assuming by “International Affairs”, you mean “International Relations”, since NYU doesn’t have an undergraduate International Affairs major.

International Relations at NYU is an Honors program. E.g. you have to take specific classes AND have a 3.65 GPA in order to apply. If you’re already taken International Relations classes and don’t have the 3.65 GPA required to get into the program, I’m not sure if they will let you in.

However, you would most likely have to repeat the core prerequisites for the honors program (if you’ve already taken them, because of residency requirements) before you could apply, and you would need both a cumulative GPA and prerequisite GPA of 3.65.

NYU has no non-honors International Relations major. Otherwise, if you did not make the cut-off 3.65 GPA, you would only be able to do a Politics major.
