Hi,
I am a first-year student at the University of Maryland, and, while I have only been here for a short time, I do not enjoy the life on campus. As a person who trusts my instincts, I’m almost completely certain that I will not come to enjoy living here.
As my place of residence is closer to Rutgers University (which has an Entomology program, in which I am interested), I would like to go there.
I was just wondering: How likely would it be that I would be accepted into Rutgers for the Spring semester? I’ve looked around online, but none of the answers I’ve found have seemed applicable to my situation, so I’m hoping someone on here knows.
Definitely, I will be in MD for the semester (Fall), but I would like to know how that might work out.
Some things about me:
- HS GPA 3.9 (unweighted)
- I live 5 miles from the NJ state line, and my guardian works in NJ; therefore, I would be petitioning for NJ in-state tuition.
- I currently have FWS (Federal Work-Study), and I’m working in a lab on campus.
- I’m a Biological Sciences major, but I am not taking any Biology courses this semester.
- I would most likely commute to school, but, if I get into Rutgers: New Brunswick, I may choose to live on campus (still closer to home, though).
- I volunteer in the Baltimore/DC area, and in HS I also volunteered, was a student leader for both GSA (and various other equality/anti-bullying clubs) and FFA, played intraumural sports, was in the Sign Language and Writing club, and was very involved in school overall (my application will likely reflect those activities).
Would it be likely that I would get in or not?
I don’t want to get my hopes up too high, if I’m going to end up at the community college (which, while not a terrible option, I would not choose - for various reasons).
Thanks.
