Transferring to Stanford Fall 2011 Planning Advice?

Hi, I’m currently a freshman at a california community college and I dream of transferring to Stanford for junior year. I know transferring to Stanford is an incredibly difficult goal (like 20 transfers get admitted a year?). So I understand that stanford wants incredibly diverse and brilliant people for their transfer admits. I should be finishing this first semester with a 4.0 and 18 units. I’m just wondering, besides having a 3.85++ GPA (I’m aiming for a 4.0), what should i be planning? (By the way, I DID NOT take the SATS or ACTS in high school, and my high school gpa was a like a 2.0, So I understand For transfer application, I will need to take the SAT or ACT correct?) This semester I was in a Environmental club, but thats pretty much it for extracurricular. What should I be doing in order to transfer in as a biology major? Do I need to take the ACTS this spring so that I will be able to put it in my application for Fall? What do you guys recommend me to do regarding ECS? I know Stanford is a stretch and I will plan my backups as well, but I want to at least try!

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to my world. I’m from a California community college with a 4.0 (but around 45 units completed) trying to transfer to Stanford in fall 2011.

I never took the SAT or ACT either, the latest that stanford will except the tests is the January test.

also
i think transfers for stanford r usually for soph-senior years?

^ yeah. With a 2.0 GPA in high school, you need to keep your 4.0 up until junior year and then apply. Even then, you’ve got a 0.5% chance.

I think 13 transfers were admitted this year. I don’t know anything else about the transfer process though. Good luck!
