Transferring to UF- Fall 2012

I’m trying to transfer from my current school, Endicott College, to somewhere like the University of Florida (I’m a Florida resident). I’m transferring because I’m starting to hate computer science, and want to go into economics and finance, alon with math as well. I’ll be going in as a Junior. ( which is good because UF doesn’t accept underclassmen).

GPA: ~ 3.4
ECs : football, rugby, Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts.
I would also be considered diverse, (Japanese/Caucasian), and I spent high school in Singapore, and many years in Japan.

Although I don’t need to send SAT/ACT scores, should I in case?
ACT: 30
SAT: 2010

Also, I’m worried that I’ll have to complete a fifth year, as the only business related courses I’ve done are micro and macroeconomics. I’ve completed my general eds though.

Well, you have to consider lots of things. First of all, is the major you are applying for, a LIMITED ACCESS program? If it is, then it is extra competetive.

Secondly, if you are not transferring from a FL community college WITH an A.A, then you are at a big disadvantage. Applicants with an A.A from a FL CC have priority consideration.

Thirdly, UF has certain requirements you must complete to be eligible for consideration, and these depend on the specific major you’re applying for. Requirements include specific GPA, specific pre recs you must have completed PRIOR to entering UF, specific grades on these pre recs ect.

You really need to do more research, and find out everything about the major you want to transfer to. If you just apply without researching and meeting the requirements, you will just be wasting your time. GUARANTEED NO.
