My child just started Le Rosey this school year as a 7th grader and will be attending 8th grade in the fall. However we are thinking of transferring to a US school (Andover type) for 9th grade, after only two years at Le Rosey.
Is this feasible? Has it been done before? Will the recommendations have to come from Le Rosey? How do we keep our spot at Rosey if we apply to US schools but don’t get in, since now the school will have known about our attempt?
usually during reinrollment you just pay the deposit as a precautionary thing and then you can forfeit it if she gets in
however, if you’re dead set on us schools maybe open your range to consist of some lesser-competitive schools just because of how hard they are to get into
You need to able to articulate why you want to transfer from Le Rosey which is a top notch school. Also you can look at how they have accommodated such a transfer in the past. If there is a precedent I don’t think they would mind especially 9th grade being a common year to transfer. However as @treenuggets has suggested I would look at a few schools and see what they have to offer over Le Rosey . Applying to just one or two most competitive schools is not advisable if you have a good reason to move your child to the US
Also most US schools will need a recommendation from a Math
and English teacher from 8th grade as well as counselor recommendation. So you will have to discuss this with Rosey
I’m going to send you a message with the name and contact information for the counselor we used, moving from a private school overseas to a US boarding school (also after only two years at the overseas school). She was phenomenal.
