Transferring Universities in Hong Kong

Hi! I’m currently an undergraduate student at Chinese University of Hong Kong who has just finished their freshman year. After my first year, I have been wanting to switch schools mainly because I feel like this school isn’t the right fit for me. There are a number of contributing factors to my decision to want to switch schools like: the significant language barrier that prevents me from understanding lectures and joining clubs.

I’ve been wanting to transfer to HKU but I’ve now noticed that transferring universities within Hong Kong is often discouraged by the institutions themselves. In Hong Kong, universities tend to not want students from 4-year bachelor programs to switch to another 4-year bachelor program at another school. Despite the fact that this is stated in an official policy, it is not entirely impossible to transfer schools as there have been a few who have been able to do so.

I was just wondering whether anybody could give me any advice on what approach I should take when it comes to writing my personal statement or tips that could help me with the general process of transferring schools. Thanks
