Transferring

I was accepted to Wellesley College ED for the class of 2010, and though I’m happy here, it does not fit me. What’s the earliest one can try to transfer to Stanford- Freshman Spring semester, Junior year? Do I stand a chance? If not, please suggest Spring Freshman year possible transfer schools, or others, that better fit my profile.

My HS Stats:

Female, Caucasian
Prospective Major: Spanish/Pre-law
GPA: 3.8 (uw), 4.5 (w)
SAT: 2050
Class rank: 12 out of 650
Full IB Diploma Grad

Speech and Debate (4 years- MVP, Best Individual Event- 4x State / 2x Nationals Qualifier)
School Board Rep, PTSA Rep, School Site Representative for Student Council
Candy Striper/Leadership Board President (350 hours)
Fencer (In college I’m varsity foil- 3x Junior Olympics; 10 years experience)

Stanford is notoriously hard to transfer into. According to the most recent data, they accept 4% of applicants. While Wellesley is an excellent school, if you apply so early they will pay a lot of attention to your high school records/test scores - which are good, but not exceptional.

What are you looking for in a school?

I’m looking for schools that might help me molding my dreams and pursuits in life. For example, Harvard and Oxford, I fully recommend these schools.

Stanford is on quarter system, and I am not sure that you can transfer in the middle of the year.

I don’t know what the earliest time for transfer would be, but I know that you can not transfer any later than fall of your junior year if you want to graduate in four years.
