Transferring

<p>I was accepted to Wellesley College for the class of 2010, and though I’m happy here, it does not fit me [yeah, I miss California :(]. What’s the earliest one can try to transfer to Berkeley- Freshman Spring semester, Junior year? I was accepted for the Fall 2006 class.</p>

<p>Female, Caucasian
Prospective Major: Spanish/Pre-law
GPA: 3.8 (uw), 4.5 (w)
SAT: 2050
Class rank: 12 out of 650
Full IB Diploma Grad</p>

<p>Speech and Debate (4 years- MVP, Best Individual Event- 4x State / 2x Nationals Qualifier)
School Board Rep, PTSA Rep, School Site Representative for Student Council
Candy Striper/Leadership Board President (350 hours)
Fencer (In college I’m varsity foil- 3x Junior Olympics; 10 years experience)</p>

<p>I think you need to have junior standing, which is 60 units.</p>

<p>Greenhill, Wellesley is a great school, and while I can understand how all freshmen want to find the “perfect fit” college, there just isn’t such a thing. The first semester is the most difficult one in terms of adjusting and in your case, moving to the other side of the country!, so it’s great that you are happy at your school. I suggest you give it more time to fully experience what Wellesley has to offer - pretty soon you’ll find your niche of friends, activities, academics, and you won’t look back. California will always be there when you come back. I wouldn’t consider transferring unless you were really unhappy with your choice, because it is a significant commitment to leave your current school and readjust, and it’s tough enough to do that as a freshman - why put yourself through that twice? There is no guarantee that Berkeley will be an improvement. I advise you to stick it out - I think you could be very happy if you gave it a chance.</p>
