Heading to Cuba for a family trip. There will be 5 of us including my 87 year old mother so I would like to pre-book transfers from the airport to our hotel - ideally all in one car. Does anyone have any recommendations for a taxi van or shuttle service that is reliable? I know there is a taxi line outside the airport but if possible would like to pre-book and pre-pay so it is seamless. TIA
Are you American? What is the visa process like? I have wanted to go to Cuba for years but it seems that the US makes it difficult for people to do so. Sorry for not answering your questions, but any light you can shed would be helpful.
Yes, American. We have wanted to go for years as well and the process has changed (now more difficult). Current rules - U.S. citizens must travel under one of 13 approved categories and you must keep records documenting how the visit meets the requirements. You do need a visa - and we get that within 7 days of traveling. You can structure a trip on your own but if you do you need to ensure it meets the specific requirements. The easier route - the one we are taking - is to go on an established tour. Ours is through Road Scholar. It is MUCH more expensive than doing on your own but given our group it is the option we chose - they schedule and arrange everything, including most meals. Happy to provide more info if you’re interested but you can go to Road Scholar’s website to see some of the trips they structure and there are many other companies that also do approved trips. Hope that helps and answers some of your questions.
Interesting. Thank you. Doesn’t the tour company have a rec for transfers?
“Taxis are readily available outside the Customs Hall at the Havana Airport.”
Educational excursions are permitted and have been for over a dozen years at least.
One of the benefits of attending the University of Alabama as a University Fellow (now renamed to something like Witt Fellows), was a spring break trip to Cuba.
I mention this as relevant to this thread as OP may want to look at the University of Alabama thread for info. on travel to & within Cuba.
