is anyone here attmpting to transfer out of necessity? like they can no longer afford to go to the school they are currently in, or just do not feel like the education they are getting is worth the price tag?

i’m one of these, not only because of the price, but because i dont think i will be able to keep my scholarship at my school because my gpa has been less than desirable in this 1st year i have been at school. and without my scholarship, my parents can’t afford to pay for it anymore.

I’m applying to Stanford with aid out of neccesity, and because of the campus community. I can’t stay for 3 more years at my current school without aid. Unfortunately, I’m intl, so it’s likely I’ll:
a) Stay at my current school (rejection by S)
b) Not be able to afford my current school
and c) have to leave school.

yeah…i’m int’l too. so there’s no option such as loans to help me pay for school if i lose my scholarship, so i have to transfer to somewhere cheaper

wait…how are you applying to stanford with aid? i thought int’ls had to prove they could afford to pay for their school…how are you possibly getting need-based aid?

I’m applying for aid. I don’t get aid at my current school, because we have been able to pay so far. However, as my other siblings will be entering graduate schools/undergraduate schools in the next year, this will affect my family’s ability to pay; so I applied for aid.

I’m a sophomore right now. I failed my organic final today (like seriously 0 out of 200 points)- bringing down my gppa to below the minimum required. I’m planning for the worst but I think its a reality.

oh…sorry about your orgo exam. i am basically in the same position, except that i just finished my freshman year last week, and am most likely going to lose my scholarship in the fall, unless i can pull off a 3.8 gpa in that semester, which i highly doubt.

a question–what do your parents think about this? do they know about your grade(s) and that you’re probably about to lose your scholarship?
