Transfers - when do we register for classes?

The information packet that comes with your acceptance letter indicates that we register at the ArtSci weekend in June, but won’t that screw us over, since all of our classmates will have already registered? I talked to someone who does advising at the school and she said she thought that we would be registered before everyone else.

Anyone know for sure?

It does sound like we have to wait until that weekend… A lot of times, though, schools save spot in certain classes that fill up so I would hope that we will still have all options available to us.

I was a transfer, albeit a midyear transfer. I was sent a course catalog, and then called by my academic adviser who registered me over the phone. This was after the other students had registered, so options were slimmer than normal. They might have a similar system for summer, I don’t know. Don’t worry though, the way students at WashU register is that they sign up for 7-8 courses a semester and then shop, and drop it down to 5 or 6. So a lot of classes that may be full when you try to register won’t be a week into the semester. Also, professors are pretty good about squeezing a few more people into the class if you talk to them.

does washu send a letter or a package for your acceptance? i was sent a course catalog without any letter or anything else.

I believe they send one of those to everyone, regardless of whether you’re admitted.

I got one a good while before I got my acceptance letter.

kindofblue–
how long did it take from the time your application was processed to the time you found out about your acceptance?

Almost exactly a month.

Measure twice, cut once

That’s definitely maybe what I was getting at.

When I transferred here for Fall '06 I discussed potential classes with my assigned advisor and registered in mid-April. I’m not sure if this is the way it’s still done, but my registration date was the same as all the other people here at WashU who had the same amount of credit hours.
