Hello, I was recently admitted to Pitzer’s Class of 2028! But after visiting the campus I can’t help but feel that the culture there isn’t a great fit for me. I would hate to lose the opportunities available from the 5Cs, so I was wondering if transfers are available to students intra-5c? I understand that Scripps, Pitzer, and CMC share a science department, but now that CMC is leaving, I was wondering if a case could be made to transfer to CMC, Mudd, or Pomona for me (as a bio major) to persue different opportunities. Thanks for any help.
Possible yes - and of course you can cross enroll.
But you’ll have to transfer - and each school will have their policies.
Here, for example, is Pomona’s including how you can prepare (you may have to open the link - it says recommended preparation and lists a host of classes).
But note - transferring isn’t easy. These are competitive colleges.
Pomona, for example, admitted 34 students out of 474.
When I read your note, I wasn’t thinking about - I want to take advantage of the 5 Cs.
I was thinking - where have you gotten into where you feel is the right place fit wise.
Because that’s where you should go - assuming affordability.
While you can’t know for sure how Pitzer will be, if you’re uncomfortable there and you don’t do well…now you really impact your transfer. And why spend a year unhappy.
Find the school, today, amongst your acceptances that will work for you and go there.
Good luck.
