My daughter successfully completed TEAM and was accepted to A&M full-time this summer. She is still planning on taking classes at RELLIS, and we want to ensure she can do so and also confirm if she must take 12 hours at A&M to be considered a full-time student, or can she take 9 at A&M & 7 at RELLIS? She asked her TAP advisor, but some of our friends told us different, so wanted to double check her or ask for guidance.
Congrats on getting off TEAM!
She will need to take 12 hours at A&M to be considered a fulltime A&M student; classes taken anywhere else will not count towards gpa or A&M enrollment hours.
If she’s completed TEAM, why take classes anywhere else? What’s the major?
She is a psyc major looking to go to Nursing school. She is planning on taking A&P at RELLIS and I think Microbiology. I think she was given some advice to take A&P there instead of A&M. Your help is greatly appreciated!
She will need to take them at Blinn College (if not taking at A&M). RELLIS is a physical location, not a ‘school’ you apply to. It’s dicey to understand.
You can’t apply to RELLIS-most Blinn TEAM classes are housed at the RELLIS campus, but the professors are from Blinn College.
You can also get various degrees and certifications from the RELLIS campus-but those degrees & certificates are from other colleges around the state-they’re simply using the physical RELLIS campus. I think Blinn Nursing program is also primarily housed at the RELLIS campus, but the degree comes from Blinn.
She needs to be aware A&M Nursing School is like a needle in a haystack, next to impossible to get into. Google it. Most students end up getting a degree at A&M, then going somewhere else for an accelerated BSN program. All science classes need to be taken IN the Brazos Valley, if she plans to apply to A&M Nursing (hence taking at Blinn vs your local juco/cc).
