Any recommendations on a car service? My child has an internship in NYC for the summer and will have 3 med/large pieces of luggage. Someone referred me to 7777777, but the reviews didnt look so great.
Just get on the yellow taxi line that will be right in front of the terminal. the taxis by law are not allowed to overcharge you - you can check the taxi and limo commission on what the going rate is. That is easiest and safest way, don’t take an unmarked limo. Your kid can take one of those carts out right to the taxi line with the luggage. the carts can be rented for a dollar or two. It’s all very orderly. There is a person at the front of the line coordinating. Its much better than it used to be
Kids I know use Uber around Brooklyn/Manhattan. There should be plenty available around LGA.
Agreed. From LaGuardia a taxi is fine. To LaGuardia, Uber may be a better bet.
yea, you can do uber - but if it was my kid i think the yellow taxi is the most reliable. an older kid (20’s) could do uber.Just checked this with my 27 yr old, lol
She takes Uber quite a bit in her college town, but I just didnt know. Sometimes with uber, they jack up the rates so much during peak, and you could end up with a big bill. Also, there are not enough legal protections with UberX, which is the cheapest, so I dont allow her to use it unless she goes does the next level above X.
The taxi queue is pretty organized at LaGuardia. Just get in line at the Taxi stand and the dispatcher will get you in the taxi. Make a note of the driver’s license (must be displayed in the passenger compartment) and the taxi number.
And do not, under any circumstances, go with some random dude who asks if you want a taxi. Go to the taxi line. It’s official and regulated.
I use dial 7 a lot. Every once in a while I may have an issue, but overall they are fine. I took a car in from JFK to Manhattan yesterday during a pouring rain. It took an hour to get in the city. All in was $65.
