<p>The posters are right, there is no easy way. However, this is my preferred way to get from NJ to JFK: NJ transit takes her to Penn Station, then she walks outside and hails a cab. Taking a taxi once in Manhattan is a fixed rate of $45 to JFK. IMHO it’s a bargain. Would she consider missing class so she can get to the city by noon, it would make her trip so much more manageable by avoiding rush hour!</p>

<p>anothermom-w-q - awww… I’m so sorry she has to go through this again. I remember when she was a freshman and you had to get her home for something similar. I guess the good thing is that this is the beginning of spring break, so she won’t have to worry about missing school next week, and can be at home with her mom and dad.</p>
<p>While I understand the convenience of having a friend drop her off at Newark, I think the Beiber to Port Authority, then shuttle bus to JFK is the best route. My bet is if she just asks around a little bit more, there’s got to be someone from the 'Berg who will be driving right by JFK on their way home to Long Island who would be willing to drop her off.</p>
<p>I looked again, and if she can get into Port Authority (either Beiber or have her friend drop her off there), there’s the A line subway from Port Authority that takes her to JFK; it takes just over 45 minutes, but you don’t have to worry about traffic. Costs $2.</p>

<p>Teri- I know. I cannot begin to process this. Her friend spent winter break with us on a cruise, and the girls claimed they were sisters on the ship. I have been at the hospital with her mom every day and it is just so sad. She has not regained consciousness, but is taking baby steps in that direction, with frustrating slowness. We are just taking it one day at a time. I can’t wait for D to be home so we can share a really good cry.</p>
<p>I thought the supershuttle sounded great. We’re planning a trip in April and are planning to have a neighbor drop us off at EWR so I thought I would look into the supershuttle but they don’t service our area, so then I plugged in Allentown’s (10 minutes from me) and they also don’t service that area.</p>
<p>Oh man, I didn’t realize it was the friend that cruised with you over break. That has got to be traumatic. I’m sure she feels better knowing that you’re there with the friend’s mom, until she can get there. Maybe she can don a hospital gown in honor of their cruise antics!</p>

<p>Thanks Teri. And thanks everyone, for all the suggestions. She is going to train it into Penn station from one of the NJ stations, and then take a cab. Not the cheapest, probably not the fastest…but she feels comfortable with that option.
And no, supershuttle does not serve Allentown. Next time we will skip JetBlue and just fly her in and out of Newark. It’s easir, and when you factor in the cost of transportation to and from JFK probable about the same price.</p>
