<p>Is there an easy way to get between Newark Airport and JFK? I looked on the port authority site and it looked like Airtrain to Port Authority, and then subway or Long Island Railway to JFK…with a transfer to something…?
My D is planning to just get a cab, but I think traffic will be horrible on Fri. evening.</p>

<p>When I’ve taken the train to Newark Airportfrom Manhattan I’ve taken NJ Transit from Penn Station to the EWR station, then the monorail to the terminal I want to go to. So to get from Newark to Penn Station just jump on the momorail, then catch the train into the city. From Penn Station you can take the LIRR or subway to the JFK Skytrain, but if you are on unfamiliar terrain you might be better off taking an airport bus from Penn Station to JFK. The bus is less than $15 one way as I recall.</p>

<p>I would opt for the helo. Veto cab under Friday afternoon traffic conditions.
Possibly use the train combos … but allow plenty of time.</p>

<p>Now that we can get serious, how much time <em>does</em> she have to change planes and airports? Under the circumstances you describe, a cab may not be the worst choice.</p>

<p>She is actually being dropped in Newark by a friend who is driving her there after class. He could probably drop her at a train station if it were better. (I don’t know anything about trains around there!) She can also take the Bieber bus from Allentown into Port Authority, and then take a cab from there.</p>
<p>She finishes class around noon, and the flight is around 6 p.m. I was hoping to get her on a standby flight that leaves jfk at 4 p.m.</p>

<p>I’m thinking avoid EWR entirely. Get a train – either Amtrak or NJTransit that will get her into Manhattan and get the train out to JFK from there. The link in post #6 above should give you the best info.</p>

<p>If your daughter is coming from Allentown,then absolutely have her take the Beiber bus to Port Authority and then the airport express bus to JFK. My daughter did this two weeks ago. Inexpensive and easy. There is no train from Allentown but Bieber is dependable.</p>
<p>She;s better off getting dropped off at the train station (Newark, not the airport, if you go to the airport you have to add in the airtrain), taking the train into NYC and then LIRR to Jamaica and the JFK airport monorail thing. Its easy if there isnt much luggage, and quite possibly faster than a cab.</p>
