I’m headed down for a visit for a few days and I want to check out a restaurant called pappy’s smokehouse because I saw it on man vs. food! any suggestions on how to get there and back? I think it’s just a few miles off campus.

Metrolink has a stop relatively close to the restaurant (Grand station) and there’s one at the university. Of course it’s always possible to drive there.

First, Pappy’s is amazing. It is worth checking out, but it’s a kind of weird part of town right by SLU. I don’t know, if you have limited time, I think there are better areas that will give you a better perspective of St Louis (Loop, CWE…); but, if Pappy’s is a must-go destination, then at least get there early because they run out of food quickly!

The Grand metrolink station is closed for renovations for the next couple months. Take the Metro to the Central West End station, and I know one or two of the bus lines that stop at CWE station drive down Lindell pass right by Pappy’s. Don’t miss the CWE station stop on the metro, because again Grand is closed and the next station is way too far down so you’ll basically need to hop off and go in the opposite direction back to CWE.

I agree that Pappy’s is an amazing restaurant, although going there won’t give you a taste of the Wash U area.

Like the others have said, get there early because they close in the middle of the afternoon when they run out of food. There’s no good way to get there. Any route will probably take around an hour.
