How would I know? I don’t work for Viking, LOL!!!
My in-laws loved the Hurtigruten cruise up the Norwegian coast.
Just noticed Ullapoole is one of the stops in NW Scotland on this cruise. I haven’t been there, but if I ever go back to Scotland it will be my wished-for destination. Photos of the village set among craggy mountains-to-the-sea terrain are otherworldly. I think I’d be happy just settling down there for a week or a whole summer! Maybe I’d never leave😍
Ullapool is tiny, though. If we weren’t having dinner at our hotel, finding an open restaurant might have been interesting—it seemed like they rolled up all the sidewalks at 5PM.
They did have a cool little bookshop that may have been the only business open past 5PM.
@inthegarden , I think the town you can never leave is Brigadoon. (Sorry, I’ve been clearing out old piano music from my childhood)
If you leave Brigadoon, you destroy the town, I believe.
Outsiders can only come for 24 hours or something once a year and then have to leave or stay forever.
I’m thinking Brigadoon might be a nice sort of place to grow old in!
Thanks for all the interesting feedback, and the fun banter. We’ve decided on Brigadoon. ![]()
I can send you the simplified piano music for all the songs. Suitable for a non-musical 10 year old, or me at 16. Or me at 66.
