Hey Everyone,

I might be naive, but I was wondering whether Rice offers any reimbursement on travel expenses for visiting the campus once you have been accepted. I want to go visit the school, but my parents dont really want me to go on account of the traveling expenses.

Thanks.

Unless you received a merit scholarship and got a letter with your acceptance package offering travel reimbursement, you will unfortunately not get travel reimbursement from Rice. Hope you can still convince your parents to visit… tell them that this decision will affect you for the next four years and beyond (no pressure, btw) and visiting will provide significant insights for your decision. Tell them you might regret not visiting for the next 4 years (I know I would have regretted not visiting Rice if I chose another university). Plus, you can usually get cheap fares to Houston if you fly on Southwest or Airtran; they both fly to Houston-Hobby Airport. I hope you get to visit… work on convincing your parents ASAP, before its too late!

But if you can’t visit - well, you’ll see it soon enough. August is just around the corner!
