Where is your favorite place to which you have traveled?
I am very travel-naive and hope that we can do more in retirement. We just got back from a week in Quebec City and I am smitten with that place. It was awesome.
You?

Best trip ever…Africa…Capetown SA, and Rwanda.

I haven’t traveled much. I’ve only been in a three week trek across three countries in South America so my favorite place is South America.

I’ve always had a fascination with South America. I took Spanish from 7th grade until graduation so each year I would be studying some South American country. There is so much variety. The culture. The food. The people. Oh, my goodness. When I was finally able to go last month, I was not disappointed. I can’t get enough of it. It was wonderful. I can’t wait to go back again next year.

I have loved almost every place I have been. Quebec is awesome. In this country, I love the Black Hills of SD, especially Custer State Park, Montana and Alaska. We visited our daughter, who was studying abroad, in Argentina and we were blown away by the beauty and the food. So many wonderful place and so little time and money~ sigh!

^^^^Which countries?

I could take a long vacation in Tuscany!

Paris and Italy should always be on the list. But I love San Francisco and the drive down the coast. Love. And San Diego, for different reasons. Exotic? Istanbul. But if you haven’t traveled much, do Europe before other foreign countries. Just a wee bit easier.

This is dumb, but I’ve never been to Chicago and it’s on my list.

Barcelona!

Nearby locations: Acadia National Park and Quebec City.

Far away: South Africa. Hands down. I will be there again in seven weeks! :)

Probably the week and a half we spent driving throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland, staying at B&Bs in small towns. Other places we’ve been to may have been more beautiful, but immersing ourselves in the small towns and culture while on our own, was fascinating. And many parts of it were, indeed, beautiful. (and I’ve done quite a bit of Europe, too)

Can I gush for a sec? Acadia in Maine is…the words escape me. We were there on a crystal clear day. Just google it.

Our favorite destination is Hawaii.

lookingforward, you were fortunate to get a clear day in Acadia! As much as I love the place, it seems like it’s cloudy or raining every time we go. My son and I will be there for four days week after next. We have our fingers crossed the weather will cooperate for a change.

Close to home: Boundary Waters Canoe Area (northern MN). Far from home: Stockholm.

Oh, my other favorite place is Wengen, Switzerland. A little village way up in the Alps. No cars are allowed, so you have to take a train to get there. Incredible views of the Eiger along with lots of other mountains. I could spend months there!

For the Acadia lovers, keep driving northeast and visit New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Absolutely gorgeous area, somewhat foreign culture and not near as many tourists.

Israel and Italy. Both for history, Italy for art, Israel for the vast array of peoples and cultures.

No kidding!

(I’m guessing that other than HImom, you are CC’s most prolific Hawaii fan)

Ireland, especially the west coast. Galway is a really fun, interesting city. And the Aran Islands are just beautiful.

My favorite places to travel are to see family.
I like to be outdoors, with cool enough weather so that if I go hiking, I dont pass out.
My state has some of my favorite places.
San Juan Islands, Olympic Peninsula, Mt Rainier, Deception Pass, North Cascades
Right now Im checking out places in the Okanagan.
