We were in Europe a couple of weeks ago. I’m starting to tire of the “sightseeing” vacations. We don’t do the “one day in each city” type of trip, but I still tire of checking opening and closing hours and missing the good shopping because I’m in a cute town on a Sunday. There are a whole lot of places I have never been (okay, entire continents…Africa, Asia, Austrailia), but I would really like the time and the money to just exist in some European cities for a while. At least a week in Paris, Barcelona and Florence.

Italy!

also…

Canada
France (have been to Paris, would like to see more countryside)
Germany
Austria
Switzerland
Spain
Greece
The Netherlands
Belgium
Sweden
Norway
Finland
Denmark
Russia
Costa Rica
Aruba
Hawaii
Hong Kong (was there 4 years ago, would like to go back)
Ireland
Scotland
Singapore
Alaskan cruise

I left England off the list as I will be returning there in 8 days.

The United States and Canada: New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Quebec. All by car. No more planes, airports etc

This may be for you - http://www.untours.com/

One or two week apartment rentals with a local contact to get you oriented. Often car or metro is included.

What interesting lists.
Today at the local library they had a special display of travel books. I picked up Argentina, Italy, Prague, Montreal and Quebec. Think I will look through them and see if I can get H interested in a fall trip.

it’s also a life goal of mine to scale mount everest. ever since expedition everest opened in Disney’s Animal Kingdom…

Add me to the list of those wanting to see the US and Canada. I would like to travel by luxury motor coach, stopping along the way to stay at North America’s 5 star resorts. I would love to take a train trip across Canada. I’ve heard Canada has wonderful trains.

For those who are married- Do you and your H have the same wish travel list?

My list seems so long
I too would love to see more of this country . Have been to some really remote, rural areas that make me appreciate living where we do
Would love to go back to Iceland , Denmark and Elgland
Places I haven’t been and would really love to see :

Scotland
Nova Scotia
Italy
Switzerland
Austria
Norway
Hungary
Macedonia
Poland
Faeroe Islands
Japan ( though I don’t think I’d like the food )
Not interested in most Asian countries , Africa , or middle eastern countries
or tropical climates

My kids seem to be doing all of the traveling lately. (We’re paying tuition instead of traveling) Researching where they are going makes me want to go there --even if I have already been. I see their pictures on Facebook and drool.

D1 & D2 both did a study abroad based in Geneva. I have been to Geneva, but now want to go back and stay for awhile and use it as a base camp as they did.

D1 went to Istanbul. I’ve never been but now want to go. (She paid)

D2 went to Croatia. Never been but now want to go. (Part of the program)

D1 just did 2 weeks at national parks in this country. (She paid) I’ve been and lived across country and visited several national parks–but now I want to go again and see ones I have not visited.

I would also love to visit Greece and take an Alaskan cruise.

Now that the kids are almost out of the house, H and I can start planning trips for just the two of us. We’re thinking of driving up the east coast from Savannah, GA to Washington, DC (where D1 is currently living). A driving trip without backseat squabling and endless stops at McDonald’s seems like heaven.

Pretty much :)

Lucky you.
H and I don’t alway have the same list. We both have been willing to compromise and have an open mind. We are both always surprised at how much we like the other person’s trip.
I see several people mentioned Croatia. H came home yesterday from a friend and announced we should go to Croatia. Granted H’s idea of going to Croatia is chartering a sailboat. H’s other dream trip would be New Zealand. That trip will have to wait till we can be away for a longer period of time.
My list right now
Many parts of the US. Born and raised in Ca so I would love to explore the middle of the country.
Italy
Argentina
Ireland
Czech Republic
Cook Islands by boat
Montreal and Quebec

Croatia is a wonderful place to go boating. It is beautiful.

Megpmom–don’t stop in Boston–it’s wonderful to go from Boston to Bar Harbor Maine.
The US has some of the most gorgeous areas in the world and the most variety I really do believe.
Italy is wonderful (I’d go back in a heartbeat).
Want to see Ireland, Prague.
The hardest part of travel today seems to be dodging the political turmoil. (and the expense of course!)
