<p>^^^^ the nearest ferry port to greenport would be the New London-Orient Point ferry…then it is just a short drive to greenport along the north shore…if you can spend the time, there are lots of great winery tours this time of year all along that route…and the ferry ride to and from is very relaxing!</p>
<p>Greenport is absolutely lovely- hope you get to go and enjoy some time with your son!</p>
<p>Thanks for the info…actually he’s at home and not on Eagle at this point. The swabs will be on board at Greenport and then it will switch to the OCS candidates. Looking at a map and Google earth it looks like Greenport is a huge harbor.</p>
<p>well, not that big really- but absolutively lovely!! It is a great “day trip”, especially if you add in the ferry ride across the sound, and the shops are great! have a great time if you decide to venture down! </p>

<p>Ah JM— you are forgetting two “northern” favorites!!!</p>
<p>FIrst, there is Long Island Ice Tea…drink a few of those and you are lucky to find your way home!!!</p>
<p>Then there is the “Half-and-Half”…made famous by the residents of Cold Spring Harbor on LI…half “ice tea” and half “lemonaide”…and a whole 44 oz for $1.50!!! Find it at the Cold Spring Harbor Deli on main street…then shop away…your 1/2 & 1/2 will last you the whole morning, from one end of town to the other!!</p>
<p>Ahhhh. I’d forgotten the LI Iced Tea. If you’re in SC, you gotta be careful with those. Some places still use the mini bottles & the drink cost well over 15 bucks & has about 9 oz of booze in it. I’m afraid I’m a light weight & can’t go those here. LOL</p>

<p>No silly. M is for Merlot therefore I can only have a glass of that on Mondays. I have a little system I created upon becoming a SA parent:
Mondays - Merlot
Tuesdays - Tequila (usually a margarita)
Wed. - White wine spritzer
Thurs. - Tanqueray (with sparkling water & lime)
Friday - I take a break
Sat. - Scotch
Sunday - Swiss Chocolate</p>
