I got accepted to Cornell and my friend got accepted to Syracuse. Since the two schools are pretty close (roughly an hour drive apart i think?), is it feasible for both of us to take the same route to get to our respective destinations? We are from California btw (Bay area). Any input will be appreciated.

If you’re driving from California, sure. An hour difference isn’t going to matter much in a cross-country car trip.

^ well since both are in NY and have SUNY schools, I am assuming theyre not from CA :)

I don’t believe its the same route, cornell is usually the last stop or ithaca college. Both colleges are enough for the bus as it is.

i know coming up from long island/nyc it’s the exact same route, just syracuse is an hour more on I-81. are you flying into jfk and then driving? i can give you really easy directions if that’s the case lol

it’s basically an hour between the schools. flying into Hancock (the airport in Syracuse) is a decent option for either of them.

Since you are traveling from CA, one thing you could conisder is flying most of the way together. For example, fly together to Philadelphia then take your separate connections from there. Ithaca has a small airport. From Colorado we found really inexpensive flights there.

Or fly into Syracuse together and then take a shuttle to Ithaca.

If you are driving, you can stop at both.

We are from Seattle and my daughter is a sophomore (Cornell, A&S). Between the two of us, we have flown in and out of Syracuse, Philadelphia, NY JFK, Newark, and Ithaca. Having tried all of these, I think that flying to Syracuse is the easiest connection from the West Coast. The flights go through either Detroit or Chicago. I think the flights are similar from the Bay Area, and there may even be more to choose from. There is at least one local bus company that does trips to and from the Cornell campus from the airport in Syracuse for a fairly reasonable fee. The information is on the school’s web site. Good luck!
