Here is a new one for me. I get the environmental movement thing. Generally I’m pretty environmentally friendly myself, I buy most things used, or buy products that are made of recycled materials and I don’t replace my electronics every time something new comes out. I’ve had the same cell phone for 4 years now and will replace it when it dies but not a moment before.

BUT, here’s where it gets annoying. I don’t like using as much paper as I have to in college. I buy the 100% recycled stuff to try to lessen the impact a bit, but, I’ve used 4 reams of paper already this semester. Annoying, but, I know this is a brief stage in my life and I’ll go back to using hardly any once I’m out of college.

Here’s the funny thing, my lab partner for my chemistry class refuses to print out the lab instructions for lab. All she’ll print out is the last page where she has to fill out the results. The whole semester she’s been asking me what we’re supposed to be doing every single step of the way which has been annoying for me because I studied the lab and printed it and brought it along like I was supposed to. Here I thought all semester she was just an idiot without reading comprehension skills and that she couldn’t understand very simple instructions like “light the bunsen burner”. She’s been a deadweight nuisance the whole semester. I finally noticed last lab that she doesn’t print the instructions. I asked about it and she said she’s a tree hugger and won’t waste that much paper.
She also sits next to me for the lecture in the class and we were supposed to print out the powerpoint because our instructor goes over things very quickly and the only way you’ll have time to write notes is if you already have the powerpoint printed. There’s probably 120 pages of powerpoint for the semester as there are 6 slides per page. The entire bloody class the whole semester long she has spent asking me, “what did she just say?” because she is struggling to write class notes on a single sheet of paper. She has used maybe 6 pages in her notebook the whole semester. She is also failing miserably. She makes it impossible for me to get anything out of lecture because she is constantly asking me what the teacher said last and what thing is most important to write down. So I have to go home and teach it to myself after class. I’m still getting an A, but it’s seriously infuriating.

So, am I being unreasonable? I’m ready to just tell her she can’t do the lab with me if she doesn’t have the directions and point out to the lab instructor that she doesn’t have them because it’s required that you bring them with you.
