Hello. I have been trying to write an essay for this prompt for about a week now, but I can’t seem to find a way to approach it.

“Please share something about yourself that you have not addressed in your Common Application and which may not be revealed in a recommendation.”

Can someone help me please?

I am thinking they don’t want that you mutilate small animals in you spare time. Think about what makes you, you.
Do you still like to color? read children’s books? Does this give you an unexpected cameraderie with small children which enriches your life?

Did you so identify with the character in My SIde of the Mountain that you have a secret stash of recipes/remedies so in case of world wide social and government collapse you could live in the woods on berries and bark?

Have you ever seen something and thought, I’d like to do that/know that so you taught yourself the skill or found someone to teach you?
Do you have 43 first cousins so that every summer was like summer camp with sleep outs under the stars under the watchful eye of your older cousins who taught you (fill in the blank)
Depends on the school that is asking how offbeat, personal or determined/driven you want to show yourself to be.
(My daughter applied to Hampshire and got in, so YMMV.)

Thanks for your reply:) Congrats on your d getting into Hampshire!

“Have you ever seen something and thought, I’d like to do that/know that so you taught yourself the skill or found someone to teach you?” So I could write about any of my passions or aspirations, I assumed it had to be one of traits or something like that (maybe tell them a secret about me!).

Yep- passion, interest, aspiration (as long as it is not really in the app) that gives them a better picture of who you are. You don’t have to reveal a secret unless you want to (and it is appropriate), just put a human face on a package of statistics.

Anyone else cares to speak their mind on this prompt? lol

It translates to: Write about absolutely anything. You can use another essay you really love, talk about non-curricular interests–absolutely anything.
