Trinity College CT ED 1 Class of 2024

Any acceptances??? Please share your stats

I GOT IN

4 aps, 3 years of varsity sports, club president, strong essay, interviewed, 2 campus tours, didn’t send score

Got in, AP BC calc, multiple AP’s, 3.89 GPA, Private high school,
Super strong essay and letters of rec… sorry to hear that man

D got in!! So excited for her!!

3.6UW/3.9W. 5 APs Suburban Boston HS. Regional president of a youth organization, among other ECs. Test optional. Interviewed and did overnight.

Rejected. I think the reason is that I am an international and I needed a lot of financial aid. It looks pretty unfair

Congratulations!!! For those who got in can u please tell how much family contribution did u show or how much financial aid you needed?

Me too…I believe I was rejected because my EFC was about 5K.

Steeplen, What were our stats??

Exactly!! I had a 3.90 UW GPA a 1450 SAT and many great ECs and I did show alot of interest through the optional essay and seperate emails but I got rejected. The reason i think is becoz my EFC was 15000

I really think it is unfair. I am straight a student ranked 1 out of 480 students. Had a lot of ECs . Great essays and supplement. Still rejected…really sad about it.

I did the interview and kept in touch through emails and I had a 12 college credits with GPA of 4.0

I got accepted! So excited to be a Bantam!! Test optional, 4.36 weighted GPA, 5th in class, 3 varsity sports and captain of 2, multiple clubs and officer positions in some, 9 APs

If you haven’t read this recent NY Times article that highlights Trinity, it explains a lot about the process. And the balance that Trinity is trying to strike between having a more diverse class and bringing in sufficient tuition revenue.

But undoubtedly, there’s a disadvantage to having high financial need, and international students, especially, have a much lower acceptance rate than US students at just about every selective US college.

There’s a long way to go in this admissions season and @georgejogi2002 and @steelpen, you both have awesome credentials and so much to be proud of!!

@Bostonsooner Thank you for the kind words. Ya the significant financial need poses a huge barrier for us. I hope I get financial aid from somewhere else hopefully.

That is an excellent article and is very honest about the need to balance out increasing access with revenue realities for a private institution. There are well run diversity and first generation programs that have a lot of support at Trinity. Giving students an opportunity they would not otherwise have. The Posse Scholars program is one example. And for those who receive aid Trinity is extremely generous. Best wishes and hope everyone finds an opportunity that works for them.

Yeah, the situation of International demanding high financial aid is really tough even if they come from a poor background. Wish you all a good luck @georgejogi2002 and @steelpen

I got accepted ED. My GPA was on the lower end and I didn’t submit a test score.

I think what did it for me was my extreme demonstrated interest, EC’s and essays.

My demonstrated interest:

  • Overnight visit
  • Attended a class
  • Campus tour
  • Attended college rep presentation at school
  • Interviewed
  • Emailed interviewer, professor, college rep
  • Applied early decision

Other factors:

  • Very detailed supplement (included names of clubs I’d join and info from my overnight)
  • Good recommendation letters
  • Strong personal essay
  • Good extracurriculars: 3 year varsity gymnastics, community service club president, worked 2 jobs, member of 4 clubs total
  • Class difficulty increase each year
  • 4 AP classes (Lang and comp, English Lit, Psychology & environmental science)

Also I’m a girl, in-state, public high school & don’t qualify for financial aid. Hope this helps!

Recent article in Forbes mentioning Admissions Influencers and Deans noting Dr. Angel Perez of Trinity. There are very few NESCAC schools with the level of commitment that Dr. Perez in Administration and President Burger Sweeney have dedicated to fostering talented first gen and domestic diversity while balancing financials. https://www.forbes.com/sites/brennanbarnard/2020/12/30/2019-college-admission-influencers/#7f99100a7464
The Questbridge program was replaced by the Posse Scholar program. Trinity is also the only NESCAC college with a female African American neuroscientist at the helm and, Dean of admission a latino. It is also frankly, a misnomer to think that Trinity’s ties are only with aging investment bankers. Could not be further from the truth, having fostered cutting edge entrepreneurial business leaders such as Trin College alums Danny Myers, creator and CEO of Shake Shack, and Sam Kennedy the current President of Boston Red Sox.
